To plant tulips in a container, choose a pot that is at least 12 inches deep with drainage holes. Fill the pot with a well-draining potting mix and plant the bulbs with the pointed end facing up, covering them with soil and pressing down gently. Water the container thoroughly and place it in a sunny location. Fertilise the bulbs with a slow-release, low-nitrogen fertiliser according to the instructions on the label.
