Strawberries

One crop which is proving universally popular now berries are ripening is strawberries. Each garden club member here had a ripe fruit to taste and the rest of the bowl went into the school kitchen. I have to say the youngsters were very well behaved sticking to the one fruit each. A good watering as the fruits begin to swell will increase the weight of crop and if this is done in the morning the surface should be dry by the evening reducing likely damage by slugs.
