Free lilies are galloping ahead

Very rapid growth has been made by our free lily bulbs and several schools have asked if it is necessary to stake them. It should not be necessary, certainly to the stage of flower bud formation and there are no sign on any we have seen.

Where the compost has settled in the pots and new roots can be seen (as in our photograph) then topping up with more fresh compost will stimulate even more roots from the stem. Growing plants need to be in full light either on south facing window sills or in greenhouses. Keep your pictures coming.
