Racing Ahead

The high temperatures earlier this week got vegetables under cover racing ahead. Where schools were still on their Easter break and staff was not available to water, some plants have suffered from drought. Our carrots and turnips will be well developed for the Chelsea Flower Show the third week of May. Pots of Potatoes Jazzy already have tiny new potatoes forming and now need potting on into their larger final pots. Lettuce (above) are also ready to go up into 1 litre pots and are growing so fast you can almost see them increase in size. The contrast in colour between traditional lettuce and red leaved Lettuce Intred promises to be very dramatic.
