Chelsea Flower Show May 2015

Here are two photographs to show how schools are getting on raising vegetables for this year's schools exhibit at the Chelsea Flower Show. Several deep pots sown with carrots have seedlings well established at Corelli College in South East London. Once they have two or three proper leaves growth will be increased if they are given a very dilute spray with Miracle-Gro. Carrots especially respond particularly well to a foliar feed of this kind. Seedlings need to be spaced about 2 to 3 cms apart. Two different leaf coloured varieties of lettuce are also being grown and our picture shows seedlings of Lettuce Intred a red leaved Little Gem type of lettuce. It will be grown alongside a modern green leaved Little Gem called Maureen.
