The RHS Chelsea Flower Show famous triangle plot at the Embankment end of Main Avenue is having emergency sewer reinforcement work done just weeks before the show begins.
Currently, a major sewer runs through the Chelsea site and work to build a reinforcing structures over the top of it to protect it from the construction of show gardens has delayed the start of building gardens for this area of the May 23-28's show.
Sam Ovens’ Cloudy Bay’s garden, which The Outdoor Room is building, has been delayed this year, while last year Dan Pearson had to redesign his Chatsworth garden, around the sewer running under the triangle site,
Helical Systems has installed structural reinforcements" above our sewers on the flower show site. The work involves 7m deep holes and work to construct a temporary layer of steel above the sewer to reinforce it. This will enable the trees in one of the gardens to sit securely on the plot, without damaging the sewer below.
