Asda introduces stripy peppers for £1

British retailer Asda introduces colorful stripy peppers in its stores across Nottinghamshire for £1. The unusual fruit, which was trailed previous year, costs twice as much as the traditional pepper at Asda stores in Arnold and West Bridgford, along with 242 other locations around the country. The stripy peppers are almost twice the size of the traditional pepper. The new variety of pepper has a higher amount of Vitamin C and has been hand harvested in the The Netherlands. With a natural sweeter flavor it also boasts to have more Vitamin C than an orange. Charlie Mills, Asda's fresh produce manager, said: "We've been working with growers for seven years, and we're confident our pepper will earn its stripes with mums and kids alike." She added: "Our shoppers absolutely loved our stripy peppers when they were launched last summer, so we're excited to re-launch this unique fruit. Not only does it save shoppers money, it also boosts nutrient levels with a high dose of vitamin C. The taste of the product is at the heart of what we're trying to do at Asda."
